Biochar for soil health and fertiliser blending

Biochar adds stable carbon and porosity to soil, helping it hold water and nutrients. We supply AgriChar in bulk to fertiliser companies, farmer producer organisations and export buyers.

How buyers use AgriChar

  • Blended into compost or organic manure.
  • Co-blended or impregnated with fertilisers by fertiliser makers.
  • Applied directly to degraded, sandy or low-carbon soils.

Application rates depend on crop, soil and how the biochar is blended. Ask for our agronomy notes with your sample.

Rules to know

India: a product sold as a fertiliser must meet the Fertiliser (Control) Order. Plain biochar sold as a soil conditioner and FCO-registered blends follow different routes; tell us how you will sell.

EU: biochar can be a component of CE-marked fertilising products under component material category CMC 14, with REACH registration. EU rules guide

What to look for in an agri biochar lab report

  • pH and electrical conductivity: most biochar is alkaline, which suits acidic soils but matters in alkaline ones.
  • Organic carbon and molar H/C ratio: a low H/C ratio means stable carbon that stays in the soil.
  • Heavy metals and PAHs: must be within the limits of the market you sell into.
  • Particle size and moisture: decide how it blends, spreads and handles dust.

Packing and logistics

AgriChar ships as granules or powder in 25 kg bags or jumbo bags, delivered across India or packed in containers for export. Tell us the blend you are making and we will suggest the particle size.

Biochar works best charged with nutrients first, for example by mixing it into compost before it goes on the field. Raw biochar can hold nutrients back from the crop in the first season.
